WORKNOW prioritizes target zip codes for recruitment and service activities–including grass roots outreach, information sessions, CORE partner service areas, and hiring fairs or contractor meet and greets. This emphasis is to ensure ease of access for program resources to neighborhoods in Denver that have been historically underserved. It also supports target outreach and hiring activities for two founding projects–Central 70 and National Western Center.
CDOT has received approval from the Federal Highway Administration to establish a local hiring goal for the C70 in a new pilot program established by the US Department of Transportation. CDOT has established a local hiring goal of 20 percent of total work hours—which requires Kiewit Meridiam Partners (KMP) to ensure a percentage of workforce resides in neighborhoods near I70.
